Healthy Coastal Neighborhoods is a community-driven coalition working at the intersection of environmental quality and public health in Glynn County, Georgia.
Our coalition brings together community groups, researchers and residents to address the toxic legacy that has impacted coastal Georgia communities for decades. Through rigorous science, community engagement, and education, we're building a path toward accountability and healthier futures.
Scientists from Emory University and the University of Georgia, with guidance from Healthy Coastal Neighborhoods, conducted a human exposure study in Glynn County. The study provides evidence that chemicals associated with local hazardous sites have contributed to exposures in Glynn County residents, and that some residents have exposures far exceeding what is common in the general population.
